A Review of Wayne's World

In the early 1990s, the film Wayne's World hit theaters. Almost immediately this film was a huge success. After all, many people were already familiar with the context of the film because it was a spin-off of the popular Wayne's World sketch. Wayne's World sketches began to air on SNL in 1988 and last aired in 2011. Today, this popular comedy is still the greatest SNL spin-off movie with the largest gross. I loved this movie when it first debuted and I still love it today.

Wayne's World! Wayne's World! Party On! Excellent!

Chances are you probably recognize the subtitle above. This is the catchphrase from the iconic movie and the SNL sketches of the late 80s and 90s. This film is still famous today because it had a huge effect on pop culture. Don't believe me? Think about this...would the words"schwing," "not," and "that's what she said" have any meaning today if they hadn't been coined by the stars of Wayne's World.

A Mom's Review of Wayne's World

Okay, so obviously when I first saw this movie, I wasn't a mom, yet, but I'm still going to review it from my "mommy's point of view." This film stars two slacker best friends, Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey). Neither one of these gentlemen have much going on in their life. However, they do host a popular public access television show. This show, titled "Wayne's World" airs live from Wayne's parents basement and features the energetic Wayne and his high-strung best friend, Garth. The show is a big success with metalheads, slackers, and the random recreational drug user. However, when Wayne and Garth are approached by a cable network, they think their dreams of making it big are finally going to come true.

Wayne and Garth fall for Sleazy Celebrity Tactics

At first, Wayne and Garth are riding high on their newfound celebrity status. Unfortunately, being the naive men that they are, the duo quickly find themselves in over their head. With their show, their friendship, and much more on the line, Wayne and Garth have to try and break free from the sleazy advertisers they have aligned with in order to get their life back on track.

This is my favorite SNL spin-off. Not only did this movie bring to light how so many good people have their lives turned upside down by becoming famous, but it also introduced the world to the hilarity that is Wayne's World.
